4244.0. "Functionality of SNMP with VMS" by KAZAN::HOPE (dtn: 858-1452, Paris, France) Mon Dec 14 1992 06:55

    Hi,

Am I asking for the impossible?

I'd like to get the same info back from my VMS systems with UCX as I
    get from my SUN stations.

Here are the versions and a typical case where UCX fails to return the
    desired info.

    Thanks

    Steve

4244.1We can't control the agentsTOOK::MINTZErik MintzMon Dec 14 1992 07:3410
If I understand correctly, you have one station running DECmcc, and
are issuing queries for 2 different SNMP entities.

DECmcc does not supply SNMP agents (yet. The Common Agent is on its way).
We only return information supplied by existing agents available
on the target systems. If the UCX agent is not meeting your needs,
I would suggest trying the SMURF::CONNECTION notes conference.

Be aware that you must be running UCX V2.x to get the new SNMP agent
    to work properly.

For completeness, I'll note here that the response in the UCX
notes conference indicates that this problem report is helpful,
and should result in an improved agent soon.
