4227.0. "Q: How to add new help to .hlb by HFB " by JRDV04::IWASAWA (Osamu Iwasawa/ISE @JRD 81-45-336-5515) Thu Dec 10 1992 01:32

Hello,

I have two question about HFB.

1. I've read the DECmcc Developer's Toolkit Reference.
   I think HFB only create a new help library from .help file, that is ,
   HFB didn't add the new help to the existed help library such as
   mcc_character_terminal_help.hlb.

   Is my understanding right ?

2. Let's say my above understanding is right.
   As I want to add my sample entity help, I copied all files which were
   in mcc_common to my specific directory. I move to my directory, and
   then execute HFB. But my new help library is smaller than the provided
   help library at the installation because the entity in my help library
   has less entities than that of the provided help library.
   Thus I tried to create new help library with mcc_common:*.help.
   The size of each help library is as follows.

					 my	provided  (blocks)

	mcc_character_cell_help.hlb	1432	  2310
	mcc_decwindows_help.hlb		1718	  2594

   Do I forget any procedure or copy any source files ?

I want to know how to add my new help into the provided help libraries.

Thanks,

Osamu.I 	J-ACMS Engineer @JRD

4227.2Possible problem?2582::CHRISB::BRIENENNetwork Management Applications!Tue Dec 15 1992 17:2511
The easiest way to build help is to run HFB against the .HELP files
in MCC_COMMON.

If you build help in this way, and the help files built have missing
categories (or are noticably smaller?), there's probably a problem:
like missing .HELP files...

All .HELP files are supposed to be present on the kit (and in
MCC_COMMON).

Thanks, Chris.

Yes, I tried again.
But I still missed the help items ,which is "CONC" and "YOURMM", in the Entity.

I thought so, and then I looked for the .HELP files in the MCC_COMMON and kits.
But I didn't find out the missing item in the *.HELPs.

I think this item's source files(.HELP) were not included in the kits.
Is this right ?
I hope my thought is wrong.

4227.4ELM AM and TOOLKIT?2582::MOLAR::BRIENENNetwork Management Applications!Wed Dec 16 1992 11:2014

    Installation of the ELM AM kit should place the "CONC"
    (MCC_CONC_AM.HELP?) file in MCC_COMMON. Are "BRIDGE" and
    "FDDI" already there?

    Installation of the DECmcc TOOLKIT should place the "YOURMM" help
    file in MCC_COMMON (assuming there is such a file).

    Were these kits installed?

I only installed Director , but I have the above item in my help library.

What items should Director have in the entity of the help library ?
What .help file do we need to create my help library for Director ?
