Anyone had any experience, good or bad, managing SCO UNIX boxes from DECmcc? I assume that the MIB is available and can be compiled into the MIR. I further assume that SCO will respond to SNMP commands. Hopefully I didn't assume too much. (It wouldn't be the first time). Your comment are most appreciated. Chip

Hello, the only experience i have had, is that we have a customer (DOD) with SCO UNIX boxes, and i have a rule checking for Ipreachability which works ok. ie when box goes down the icon changes colour. regards peter | |||||
4182.2 | ipReachability rule only does a ping' | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Tue Dec 08 1992 23:00 | 11 |
To add to Peter's note, the alarm rule expression (SNMP * ipReachability = DOWN, at every 00:05:00) only uses ICMP protocol to 'ping' a TCP/IP host. No SNMP agent is required on the host, in this case, a SCO/Unix system. I do not know where you might find an agent and associated MIB to run on the SCO system. Try asking SCO . Regards, Dan Hill |
