4181.0. "Equip Inv dbase, Work Order sys, & Trouble Ticket sys?" by RIPPLE::KOPEC_ST (Seattle WA 206-(DTN545)-637-4207) Tue Dec 01 1992 18:19
We are in the process of responding to an RFP which requires the following
capabilities of its NMS. To my knowledge, DECmcc does not handle the majority
of the following requirements very well if at all; however it does fit the
other 95% of the RFP requirements not listed here quite well. So, I am asking
if anyone has any recommendations for 3rd party solutions which:
a) can fill the following requirements, and...
b) can work with and be launched from MCC
(Note: we are proposing DECmcc/ULTRIX)
1. Maintain an equipment inventory dbase including
quantity, type, location of installed/spare equipment, vendor info,
reorder limits, stockouts on hand and on reserve, lease/own/rent info,
chargeback/cost allocation info, warranty info,...
2. Provide a work order module which creates cust svc records, keeps
track of equipment/cable pairs/PBX ports/classes of svc assignments,
generates and tracks individual work orders, creates mgt reports to
monitor work order progress, etc... which has a link to (1) above, a
cable mgt system which we are investigating separately, and an
interface to a barcode system for device input.
3. Provide a trouble ticketing module which provides repair history
(info may reside on the Equipment dbase in section 1 above), time
ticket was entered, repair committment, tracking of the replacement for
and disposition of defective parts , generation of printed tickets for
technicians, management reports on weekly/monthly/exception basis,
capability of having a technician update the ticket status after
repair, etc...

TeMIP V1.1 will provide you with a Trouble Ticket FM tighly integrated with
DECmcc and alarming.
Our Trouble Ticket FM will be NMF compliant and should provide most of the
features you are asking for.
TeMIP runs over DECmcc/Ultrix only for the time being.
If you would like more information on TeMIP, please consult the TeMIP notefile
(TAEC::TEMIP) or you can have a look at TEMIP V1.0 Introduction Manual

Best regards,
Marc.

| thx Marc.
I appreciate the pointer, but these are pretty much mandatory
requirements and that handles only the TT requirement.
Any experience with any 3rd party mods that could work with MCC
so that we don't get eliminated?
Thx, Stan
