I have just recently upgraded to DECmcc EMS V2.2. This installation supports 4 production data centers and about 60 DEC sites, almost 250 nodes in the East. The LAT traffic is carried via 40 VITAlink Translan bridges and managed by the WANmanager. I'd like to retire the WANmanager and move them onto DECmcc so that I only have one management station to work with. The release notes for the Translan AM V1.0 indicate that DECmcc Directory V1.2 is not supported. Only V1.1. Is this restriction still in effect? And if so, are there any recommendations or work-arounds? Thanks, George

Note 3501 indicates that the AM will not work on DECmcc V1.2, and there is no indication that Vitalink intends to do anything about it. | |||||

A engineering group in Europe wrote a new version of the VITALINK AM, running under MCC V1.2. The productmgr told me that the engineering is finished and VITALINK now is testing the AM. So we all wait for the deliverie. I hope that it will be a christmas gift. But remember, the new Translan Versions will support SNMP management. I don't know what are the functionalities from the new AM, so I don't know the difference about SNMP and VITALINK AM. I hope that the new Translan SW will ship in December or January, but I don't know when it will be excactly. Somewere in the MCC notes are very good reports about the SNMP functionality from the TRANSLAN version. (Searche for TRANSLAN) Have a look at them.
