4124.0. "ELM AM Extra information code: 127, 129, 130" by BRAT::BUKOWSKI () Fri Nov 20 1992 11:06

	Could somebody please explain why I am receiving these messages?

	When using the ICONIC map and double click on a DECbridge 610
	line 1 (FDDI) and issue a operation -> show -> characteristics,
	I receive the characteristics window, but I also receive three
	other windows.

Window 1:
	Management Window Message: Extra information was returned for
	Bridge DEC:.MKO.BR.MKO1H1BRH101 LINE 1 :code 127

Window 2:
	Management Window Message: Extra information was returned for
	Bridge DEC:.MKO.BR.MKO1H1BRH101 LINE 1 :code 129

Window 3:
	Management Window Message: Extra information was returned for
	Bridge DEC:.MKO.BR.MKO1H1BRH101 LINE 1 :code 130

	I am using MCC SSB v1.2.0. Is the ELM AM not able to interperet
	all information that the bridge is sending?

It sounds like the dictionary and the AM are
out of sync (the dictionary missing some stuff).
The error might be better described as "the AM is returning some information
that the Map (via the dictionary) has not been told how to display."

    That's really weird.

    The Bridge AM's MS spec lists which hardware types support which
    attributes.

    127 = I-Max Expiration
    129 = Optical Bypass Insert Policy
    130 = Entity Coordination Management State

    None of those attributes should be returned by a DECbridge 610, only by
    DECbridge 620/624/626/628.

    Can you post the output of this command?

    MCC> show bridge DEC:.MKO.BR.MKO1H1BRH101 software version

    Time to talk to the bridge firmware folks...

    Thanks for finding this.

    It would be a big help for us, if you could try the following IMPM
    commands and list the codes for any "extra value returned" error
    messages. We don't have a DECbridge 610 around to test with.

    [highlight the Bridge entity]
    Show -> Characteristics
    Show -> Status
    Show -> Counters

    [double-click on the bridge, then repeat this for lines 1-4]
    Show -> Characteristics
    Show -> Status
    Show -> Counters

    The only difference between a DECbridge 610 and a DECbridge 620 is that
    the former is a SAS (single attachment station) and the latter a DAS
    (dual). The only "extra data" messages you should see should be on
    Line 1, the FDDI line. Everything else should be the same, but I'd
    like to check everything to make sure.

    Thanks.

    Sorry for getting back to you late. I have been out a few days.

    I performed the shows for characteristics, status, and counters on the
    bridge and each of the line entities. All of the results are without
    errors except for the original show that I had reported (line 1
    characteristics).
