4108.0. "Fatal error occurred during map file generation" by RUTILE::AUNGIER (Ren Aungier, Site Telecoms Mgr, DTN 885-6601, @FYO) Wed Nov 18 1992 11:51

I ran the LAN autotopology menu, selecting the automap option, the
following is the output from the message box

    (I) Getting list of registered bridges...
    (I) Building autoregistration command/script file...
    (I) Created autoregistration command/script file:
    mcc_stm_bridges_autoreg.com
    (I) Polling bridges for spanning tree attributes...
    (I) Building logical spanning tree topology map...
    (I) Writing topology map file...
    (E) Error opening map file for domain: LOCAL_NS:.fyo.bridges
    (E) Fatal error occurred during map file generation.

What do I need to do. I know that the domain .FYO.BRIDGES is empty. How
do I put the bridges I have into the domain. I presume that this is the
    reason it fails.

4108.1Check MCC_MAPS definitionQUIVER::HAROKOPUSWed Nov 18 1992 14:5612

For some reason the map file couldn't be created. Are you running
on VMS or ULTRIX? If VMS check the protections of the MCC_MAPS
directory. If ULTRIX make sure that the MCC_MAPS environment variable
    is defined.

You don't need to worry about putting the bridges into the domain.
Autotopology will do that for you.

    Bob,

I have checked, there should be no problem, I am running it under the
SYSTEM account with all privileges enabled but I am checking logicals
    etc.

I will try again in the morning as I am at home at the moment and don't
    have a station.

    Rene,

If you still have problems post the following in here:

    $show logical mcc_maps

    mcc>show mcc 0 stm_fm all char

mcc>show mcc 0 iconic applic lan_topology_pm all char

    Thanks,

4108.4Thanks Bob, you helpedRUTILE::AUNGIERRen Aungier, Site Telecoms Mgr, DTN 885-6601, @FYOFri Nov 20 1992 18:4713
    Bob,

Your other reply gave me a hint about the logicals and once I sorted
    that out, it worked.

I am getting quite fond of DECMCC, I hope the performance improves, it
    is the only drawback.

How can I find out all the elements that are available, I tried

    		SHOW MCC 0 ALL

    Rene,

You can see all of the global entities available by doing a:

    $manage/tool/dict
    DAP>show

You can also see all of the children of MCC from DAP:

    DAP>sho class mcc
