Hi - We just recently installed the DECmcc Director kit - MCCDIR012 found in the mup directory. This was an upgrade for us plus a change from the BMS kit to the simplier Director kit. I recompiled my AM and noticed that when I brought up the IMPM I got the following message in a dialog box. Notification is unavailable. Please check that the Notification FM is enrolled. I thought this FM was optional with the DIR kit? If it is then is the message extraneous or could i be in for some surprises? Any help would be appreciated. lynn dolan

4069.1 | Depends on the Dictionary you have... | RACER::dave | Ahh, but fortunately, I have the key to escape reality. | Wed Nov 11 1992 18:10 | 12 |
The support for Notification is dynamically determined at run time by looking in the dictionary for a few specific class/sub-class entries. If you dont have those entries, then Notification will not start. It sounds like IMPM is finding the entries in the dictionary, then getting upset over other missing files (or the fact that its not enrolled). If you get desperate, I'll fish up the magic DAP command to delete the offending part of the dictionary tree. Either that, or load a new dictionary from a director kit. Dave Lyons | |||||

Dave - thanks for info. You reminded me that I was using the developer's dictionary. Straight off the Director kit it includes alarms and notification fm as subclasses of mcc. When I tested against the "real" dictionary there was no message about the notification fm. thanks again - lynn |
