4067.0. "Is SNMP agent on Ultrix 100% MIB I,II ?" by MONTEZ::MONTEZ (The impossible takes a litle longer...) Wed Nov 11 1992 12:56

    Hi there.

The implementation of SNMP agent for VMS supports MIB I and MIB II.
I think that the same is true for SNMP agent on ULTRIX (RISC).

Are both implementations 100% full compliant , or they have some DEC
    proprietary MIB's ?

Do you know here I can find more information on that ?

Which agent on Ultrix?

There is the standard agent, which is MIB II compliant,
and I believe that that implies Mib I compliant, as the
only removed attributes are marked as "deprecated" in MIB II,
	not actually removed.

There is the Common Agent MIB II MOM (INET MOM), which is also
MIB II compliant, but it need not run on the system. The user has
a choice of what MOM's are run, and need not include MIB II.

FWIW:
The UCX V2.x agent is based on a very early common agent code base,
but dont expect it to be extensible, like CA is.

If any of the agents have DEC proprietary extensions, thats OK,
they can still be 100% MIB II compliant, as MIB II only specifies
a minimum of what needs to be done, and does not limit you.

I happen to run the CA INET MOM and a few other MOM's for returning
information on disks and process data. My system is still 100%
	MIB II compliant.
