4046.0. "Notification Services pb?? (MCCV1.2)" by ZTOIS1::VISTA (Renato VISTA, SIS Strasbourg, France) Fri Nov 06 1992 08:36
Hi
I'm using DECmcc/ULTRIX/BMS V1.2 for a customer.
To automatize some DECmcc/NOTIFICATION & ICONIC MAP functions, we use
the ability of describing in a file the following commands :
notify domain <domain> entity list=(node4 * circuit * adjacent node
*), event=(adjacency down)!severity=critical
notify domain <domain> entity list=(node4 * circuit * adjacent node
*), event=(adjacency up)!severity=warning
notify domain <domain> entity list=(snmp *),event=(any
event)!severity=major
This file is declared in the DECmcc Notification Window (Customize Menu
& General Notification... window), where it is possible to give a file
name opened automatically at the beginning of an Iconic Map Session.
Note that this file can be read via "DECmcc Notification:Notify
Requests", File menu & Include file...
My problem is the following :
Instead of becoming "Enabled", the requests become ERRATICALLY
"Disabled with error", with a new window displaying "No entities in
this domain support the requested events".
Of course, those entities are in the domain. And, if I try to enable
manually via Iconic Map, it WORKS... but sometimes DOESN'T want to
work... I also note that sometimes all the same requests are enabled
correctly...
Is there any problem with this functionality of ICONIC MAP/NOTIFICATION
AM ? Please note that I'm working with the version V1.2.3
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Renato
PS : the problem exists on DECmcc/BMS V1.2 for VMS too...

4046.1 | Probably needs a QAR | TOOK::MINTZ | LKG2-2 near pole X3, cube 6072, dtn 226-5033 | Tue Nov 17 1992 14:24 | 3 |
| Erratic behavior is almost always a bug.
You should probably file a QAR (see note 7)
