I understand the principles of MIR but where can I find out more solid information about MIR. What is it? (Database system, what are the file names, how does one create one etc) R<en

Have you checked the DECmcc SRM? In chapter 10, Introductiuon to MCC Routines, section 14, Management Information Routines, is a detailed description of the MIR along with a coding example. Also, the mcc_mir_* routines are documented in chapter 11, MCC System Routine Descriptions. This will answer the "how does one create one, etc" type of question. In terms of what is the "database system", the MIR is an API and the details of the implementation (ISAM file, flat file, SQL, ...) will vary from platform to platform. The SRM is platform independent and does not give details beyond the API. Come back with questions if you don't find the answers. - Dave

I also meant to include a pointer to the SRM in the last note. The bookreader version of the V1.2 SRM can be found by looking at note 5.76 in this conference. - Dave
