AUTOCONFIGURATION Problems
I'm getting an error message running Autoconfiguration:
ERROR CONTACTING SEED NODE
ERROR CONTACTING SEED NODES; PICK A NEW SEED NODE
ERROR: DATA COLLECTION FAILED
Background, I'm running Client/Server. Server is 3400 (VMS 5.5-1,
MCC EMS V2.2); Client is DECPC 433 workstation, running LAT, as far as
I know, (the customer set it up).
After building MCC and creating several domains, I ran a "first
pass" test using the Autoconfiguration Services, and took all defaults.
I was able to successfully run and populate a domain called TEST.
I ran the MCC_TEST_DEREGISTER.COM and blew away all the entries,
and then deleted the domain, using the IMPM; I used the
delete/deregister icon.
In several attempts to run the Autoconfigurator, I keep getting the
above message. I've tried different options, with no luck.
Here's a "brief" session I ran:
Prefixes Ok? Y
Domain? DNA4_SYS ! tried a different domain, which I created
! *before* I ran AUTO...
Option ? 2 ! Phase IV in selected area.
Options? 1 ! Search by adjacency.
Starting Node [1.313] ! this is the SERVER addr. I've tried it
! I've tried 1.873, which is the CLIENT.
Additional Node 1.873 ! I've tried it both ways.
Area Include [1]: 1 ! Area I want.
Area Exclude: 63 ! arbitrary, I've tried several.
Any ideas? Please send mail to JUNG::GALVIN if you have any ideas.
I'm at wit's end. Thanks.
/Mic

In addition to the above, I was wondering about the COPY_MAPS.CO.
How does this work? Can I setup another domain and copy the data to
the new domain, exit the IMPM and then viola'? Is it that simple?
thanks,
/Mic
ps. I really just want to know what the ERROR CONTACTING SEED was all
about....
