Hi, I know that in next version of SNMP AM V1.3, the vendor specific traps will be supported with the possibility to send variables in the trap pdu. (see note 3683.1) Today, with DECmcc V1.2, when I use Notification services to receive the enterpriseSpecific traps from my SNMP entity, I receive either all of them, either no of them. Will the Notification services provide the feature to filter some of enterpriseSpecific traps in DECmcc V1.3 ? Thanks Sylviane

Sylviane, In V1.3, enterprise specific traps will be delivered under the child entity for the enterprise, (while generic traps are delivered under the global entity SNMP). You should be able to use Notification services to change icon colors for child entity events. Rahul. | |||||
3868.2 | filtering done mostly on entity, not on arguments | MCC1::DITMARS | Pete | Thu Oct 08 1992 13:29 | 12 |
Notification FM does filtering on entity. As long as the events are coming in under a specific entity, and you indicate which entities are of interest in your notify request, you will be able to filter. No filtering is done on the arguments of an event at the FM level. The PM level does filtering on text and severity, which is about as close as you'll come to filtering on arguments, but it isn't exactly that. |
