3796.0. "Can't Register NODE4 nodes" by MAYDAY::ANDRADE (The sentinel (.)(.)) Thu Sep 24 1992 11:13
I have a customer with a similar problem to the one entered in
note # 3787. But instead of being for SNMP hosts its for NODE4
nodes.
This customer's has MCC v1.2 (with VMS v5.5) and all the needed
resources.
But when it tries to register any NODE4 he gets this error message
"Unable to register name, required namespace directory does not exist."
The customer's DNS namespace does have all the required directories,
.DNA_Node, .DNA_NodeSynonym, DNA_BackTranslation, etc ...
The only difference with a DEC name space is that the DNA_BackTranslation
child directory isn't the default "%X49" but rather "%X39724F". Could
this cause the problem.
What else could it be ? Somehow a standard by the book install
left DECmcc unable to register phase IV nodes. (And maybe SNMP hosts
as well, I will have to check that)
