3795.0. "MCC_EVC_SINK DISAPEAR" by TAV02::KALAI () Thu Sep 24 1992 07:17

Shalom,
We are using quite heavy the COLLECTOR AM,for DCM messages and as a part
in cp in the alarms rule. Usually since DECMCC 1.2 SSB things are working
nicely .BUT once a week or two we notice that we have two process
in cp in the alarms rule. Usually since DECMCC 1.2 SSB things are working
nicely .BUT once a week or two we notice that we have two process

000000A8 MCC_EVC_SINK    HUB
000000B7 MCC_EVC_SINK    HUB     N

When we began to check we find that:
 1- the obj MCC_EVC_SINK disappear from the decnet volatile database.

 2- the last message in the MCC_EVC_SINK.log :
        "error accepting link from collector,status=8444
         disconnect the link to the collector
          disconnect the link to the collector event sink
        terminate COLLECTOR DNA sink,thread=65542 "

 3- we had netserver.log with msg
        "connect request received
         from remote process  CZ::"0=ALARM_MGR"
        for obj "MCC_EVC_SINK"
  - -----------------------------
        TERMINATE COLLECTOR EVENT SINK
        %SYSTEM-F-DUPLNAM,DUPLICATE NAME "

There are two problem:
	Why the obj MCC_EVC_SINK disappear and what can we do to avoid that?

	And the new process ,is it normal?.I can reproduce the creation of
	the new process and I will give all the details if somebody
	REQUEST FOR THEM.

THANKS
Yael Kalai

    Did anyone find out the solution for this problem. I have a customer
    with exactly the same error, MCC_EVC_SINK object goes away but the
    process still hangs around. Any ideas ??

    The sink object can terminate for many reasons. The process cleanup is
    a bug in V1.2 for the Collector Sink. It has been fixed in V1.3.

    In order to stop the process, disable the sink before re-enabling
    the sink.
