3780.0. "When VMS_AM, U*X_AM, OSF_AM access modules ?" by MONTEZ::MONTEZ (The impossible takes a litle longer...) Mon Sep 21 1992 16:53
Hi there.
After playing, and showing DECmcc for costumers, a number of questions
came up.
We tell costumers that EMA, is here to manage everything!!!,
Meanwhile, DECmcc only manages networks devices.
Will be possible to manage a VMS or ULTRIX node too ?
example:
- rebooting a node.
- create/delete/modify user accounts .
more important:
- monitoring system load
- memory, cpu, disk usage
- number of users
- Create alarm rule on system load
- create alarm rule on audit alarms
With the script AM , some of these things are possible.
But , I think that another AM ( VMS_AM, ultrix_AM ) will be better.
For performance issues,we have already the code for cluster monitor process.
Another wish: Change protocols!
_ suppose that you disable a DECNET circuit, after, you cannot enable
it, because you need to do a $ @STARTNET.COM and NML is not
there to help you.
- but, if the enable command speaks LAT,SNMP,ETC, it will be possible.
In the future all the pollycenter (solutions) products, will be DECmcc
like ? Will be a good idea to have a "do it all" management solution ?
any ideas ?
