I'm trying to assist with an RFP (from a technical standpoint) and I am stumbling on this basic, yet important question: "How do we (Digital) intend to demonstrate to customers that we have a clear understanding of our three to five year vision ? What is our migration path to that vision?" I would appreciate it if someone would chime in here, as I'm embararrassed to say I cannot concisely articulate our 'vision thing' for a 3-5 year window.... (aside from the usual espousal of DME, motherhood, apple pie). /doug

Hi Doug, from what I assume (and from what hasn't been confirmed :-), our long term strategy will be migration and integration to OSF/DME. Until then, some "frameworks" will exist (MSU, EMA, OSF/DME, SLS, DECps etc.) and gradually migrate. Again, this hasn't been confirmed. This is what I THINK will come. Maybe one of the below mentioned folks can help you further. However, if you have more questions, drop me a line (DTN 861-3107), send mail to Joerg Maass @FRS or FRAIS::JMAASS or contact Gail Ferreira (DELNI::FERREIRA) Carlos Baradello (TOOK::BARADELLO) Marc Malaise (Marc Malaise @VBO) Hope this helps Josch

It's inescapable that we will <migrate to/integrate with> OSF/DME. What I was *hoping* was that someone would be willing to articulate a bit more detail as to _how_ we planned to 'get there'. (To paraphrase the bard, "*That* is the question...") However, I honestly don't expect that answer is something we would deliver to a customer; partly because it's Digital proprietary information and partly because (to the best of my knowledge) we don't yet know the answer ourselves... /doug

Hi Doug, I truly know how my note sounded to you. Mail's on it's way (and it's Postscript).. If you read it, you will maybe notice that what you said is partially true. Kind Regards Josch |
