3735.0. "VMS 5.5-1E7 and ICONIC Map problems" by COL01::LUNT () Mon Sep 14 1992 15:00

    Hello and HELP!!!

We are test installing DECmcc V1.2 at a customer that is
running VMS A5.5-1E7 ( They received this version from Galway).
The problem we are having is calling up the iconic map in that we
can't call up the Iconic Map. Quite a bummer situation for a test
    installation.

A Similar problem was described in note 3111 along with a CMA (??) problem.

Our exact error is as follows:

    manage/enter/inter=decw

Software error: unable to assign widget events for console thread
    %system-f-accvio, access violation, reason mask=10 .....

%mcc-f-pm nulevterr, software error: unable to assign widget events
    	for console thread

Does anyone know if this release of VMS is our problem?
So, if this is the same problem we only have two choices: 1. instal
    VMS 5.5-2 or 2. Downgrade to 5.5

    1. Install 5.5-2: Is it available? and if so where?

    2. Downgrade to 5.5: I believe then we have to do a complete
new installation, or can one install 5.5 over 5.5-1E7?

And lastly, what does the extension 1E7 in the Version mean?

Thanks for any help or ideas,

Right. Using that version of VMS results in the corruption described
in note 3111, and you may get any number of unpleasant symptoms.

I believe that VMS V5.5-3 is already shipping, which would suggest
that VMS V5.5-2 has been shipping for some time.
Have you tried a VMS support conference for your other questions?
I doubt that anyone here has experience with VMS downgrades.
