| Sorry, there has not been any change. The answer is still no.
Due to the change in the support status of Ingres/SQL, there will
have to be alternatives in the longer term. But let product management
know if you have a shorter term need.

My understandibg is that DECmcc CAN use ORACLE , but sthis need to be
developped . The best example that this could be done is OLIVETTI :
When porting Mcc to Unix System V they use ORACLE as Export Database .
The question now is : 'How complex'in term of Eng. Development
would it be to use Oracle db in spite of Ingres on Mcc Ultrix ?

3707.3 | Would be a good thing to do. | FRSOLD::ORCHIS::SYSTEM | Information, that's all I need... | Mon Sep 21 1992 15:21 | 16 |
| Hi all,
creating an ORACLE Exporting FM would be a great thing to do! At least in Germany,
ORACLE has very strong market position. Such a FM would surely help us sell
DECmcc.
In fact, I had at least three or four customer within the last six month who
where asking for it and I don't think it would be a difficult thing to do. You
just have to change the database calls, right?
Kind Regards
Josch

3707.4 | It is now 1993 and I also have a customer who wants to use ORACLE | DAGWST::SITZ | | Wed Mar 03 1993 19:24 | 10 |
| My customer has a large investment in ORACLE products and would just about
eleminate all of the Polycenter (AKA DECmcc...) products from consideration if
we force another data base system on them. It becomes even worse now that we
make they pay for Ingres.
Has any progress been made on this subject?

3707.5 | ULTRIX/SQL in DECmcc BMS now? | SOLVIT::SILVA | Carl Silva - TNM/PNM Business Development Manager | Tue Mar 16 1993 14:47 | 14 |

I run into this problem all the time as well. Oracle seems to be the
most popular.

Is this still true? I thought I read a note that said ULTRIX/SQL is
included in DECmcc BMS V1.3 now.
