Has anyone tried using the Performance Analyzer to gather IP circuit statistics? Basically I have a router that connects to a 56k wire out of the building. I want to monitor the usage. The router runs Ultrix 3.2 and it's snmp agent gives minimal information. I have looked at trying to plot the "received octet rate" and the "transmit octet rate" to get a picture of the thruput. Is this a good method? Is anyone already doing some of this stuff? Any suggestions on what statistics to monitor to get an accurate number of how much the wire is being eaten? The config is below: Site1 Site2 |-------| |-------| | | 56k | | | |----------//---------------| | routers run Ultrix | | | | 3.2 |-------| |-------| | | | | Lan Lan Thanks for any suggestions. Bill

Hello, > Is anyone using the PA for ANY IP sttaistics? Yes, we are using PA to get statistics. We are able to get stats going forward or backward in time (using RECORDed data) on Wellfleet routers. Is the router you describe built by NSL? If so, there SNMP support is not rich enough with MIB II attributes for computations with the PA (that's what it appeared like the last time I looked anyway). best regards, brad... |
