The iconic map crashes when graphing recorded statistical data with an
absolute scope of interest time.
It starts the graph, but if one poll have been missed by recoding the graph
stops, after continuing it by the "hand or arrow symbol" icon the map crashes
with the following exception:
%CMA-F-EXCCOP, exception raised; VMS condition code follows
-SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual address=0000003A,

I am running the SSB v1.2 kit, is this a known problem??
Is it supported to use the graph option on historical data??

Adrie, This problem has not been seen before. We have graphed historical data without problems. So we need to find out what is different about what you graphed. So more questions. 1. Would you MB1 click on the little man icon to display the error that caused the graph to stop? 2. What data were you graphing? If is a uncommon access module what was the data type? 3. What was the exact time spec used. Did it cross the current now time? 4. Using the same time spec can you do show command on the same data? 5. How much data was recorded over the time span? Re:2
>>>1. Would you MB1 click on the little man icon to display the error that
caused the graph to stop?
The error is:
Statistics requires two counter samples; fewer returned.
>>>2. What data were you graphing? If is a uncommon access module what was
the data type?
Node4 packet rate.
>>>3. What was the exact time spec used. Did it cross the current now time?
I am using the absolute scope of interest time from 14-aug-1992 --->21-aug-1992
No, it didn't cross the current time spec.
>>>4. Using the same time spec can you do show command on the same data?
This the output from the fcl on the show command:

I can't figure out what's causing this.

This is the output from the show recording of the node:

What is the status of this problem? I have the same problem ,very consistently. Only when I try to use graph on historical data, line syn-* error percent. It is related to the error "statistics requires two counter samples; fewer returned" The same information with the same time spec work fine throw FCL. | |||||
| 3670.5 | Scope of interest time problem with pa | MOLAR::ROBERTS | Keith Roberts - Network Management Applications | Sun Nov 01 1992 10:02 | 25 |
If PA has a problem getting the statistical required counters, it
simply returns the 'statistics requires two counter samples...' error.
For the next field test of v1.3, I have added a log bit to display any
errors returned while reading the counter attributes.
I have found that if you forget to specify a relative 'for start' time,
then PA can only process statistics once. Each subsequent output will
have the 'statistics requires two counter samples...' error.
So - if you type:
show <some-entity> all statistics, -
for duration 00:00:25, at every 00:00:30
it won't work .. but if you type
show <some-entity> all statistics, -
for start +00:00:00 duration 00:00:25, at every 00:00:30
it will work.
I realize that this note has been talking about past time data, but
there is probably something related here.

Thanks to the help received from Adrie Timmermans, we have been able to determine what caused the Iconic Map to crash when graphing recorded statistical data and to fix the problem. The problem occurs when the time spanned on the x-axis of a graph panel exceeds 24 hours. At that point it should be displayed as DD:HH (days:hours) rather than HH:MM (hours:minutes) or MM:SS (minutes:seconds). Currently the fix will be included in the Field Test Update kit for V1.3.
