Hello Folks,
I am currently trying to get Dupont to purchase DECmcc, a question they
have asked me regarding the TSAM is as follows:
Can they save a configuration file for the server and then downline
load it to a new server. This would be of use in the event of a server
needing to be replaced because of hardware failure or whatever. It
would mean that they would be operation very quickly following a
hardware problem. It seems this capability existed in the latest
version of TSM s/w.
I scanned the TSAM Use manual but could not verify.
Many thanks for help.
Peter.

TSAM ships with a GETCHAR utility which does just what you want. Look in Appendix B of the TSAM Use manual. (If you copied an earlier on-line field test version of the manual and Appendix B doesn't mention this, make sure you are looking at the latest (TOOK::TSAM$KITS:TSAM_USE_FINAL.PS;1)) Run SYS$SYSTEM:MCC_TS_AM_GETCHAR, giving the name of the terminal server you wish to capture settings for. It will spit out a command file which can then be used to re-load those settings to that same terminal server, or to clone the settings on other servers. -Dave | |||||

Very good, the manual I have does not mention it in Appendix B, so i
will get an update copy.
On the same issue I have another customer who is going to have to
manage his terminal servers with the TCP/IP AM. They have non-DEC
terminal servers. Does the TCP/IP AM have the save config capabilities?
many thanks.
Peter.
