| No, the ELMS point product is not necessary to utilize the ELM AM and FM.
There is a listener process (part of ELM FM?) that discovers new
DECbridges. Perhaps he was referring to this?

We should make sure that Ed Services is not distributing bad or
questionable information. IMHO!

Information about the Listener (actually called the "STM Listener")
is found in the DECmcc AutoConfiguration and AutoTopology Use book.
The Bookreader version of the above document that I have (not sure whether
I have the final version) has a Chapter 5 with the following headings:
5. Spanning Tree Maps
The Spanning Tree Principle
Spanning Tree Map Function Module Capabilities
Managing the Spanning Tree Map Function Module
How Spanning Tree Maps are Created
--> Running the Bridge Listener in VMS
--> Running the Bridge Listener in ULTRIX
Creating a Spanning Tree Map
Automatically Registering Bridges
...etc...
Hope this helps.

Can you please find out where your customer went to get this training
and reply back here ?

| I've dealt with customers/users who thought they could read MS-DOS or
APPLE/POS floppies on their RT11 system. And insisted that they had
really done it once but it no longer works.
It's amazing what passes through the grey-matter filters sometimes...
