3518.0. "Using circuit Am links" by SEDSWS::MALLOY () Thu Aug 06 1992 20:01
CONNECTING NODES USING CIRCUIT AM
================================================
I have been using the circuit am to create links between
nodes both phaseV and phaseIV.
(This is magic. Well Done Circuit AM team)
I can join the nodes together from any points on the node icons.
Corner to corner, corner to middle , middle to offset middle etc.
This is GREAT for a simple network.
------ --------
| | | |
| x=================x |
----- --------
But when the network becomes very complex .Then links start crossing
each other.
I NEED to be able to create more complex links .(DOG legs ,semi-circles etc)
DOG LEG
click MB3|----------------------*C A links to b,c ,e,D
| | B LINKS to c,D,c
| b* | c links to D,e
| | D link to e
a* |
|
E*---------------* D
(This starts to become a mess, even when you move the nodes about to try
and simplify the links.) It would add value , if you could use MB3 on the
mouse when adding a link .
These points created by MB3 remain static and link between these MB3 points
would remain static too.
LINK between MB3 and entities would move with entities, as implement now.
CONNECTING DOMAIN USING CIRCUIT AM
================================================
When creating a links using the circuit am between two domains.
(The two domains are vertically above each other.
These domains are not the standard icon. 10 times the normal size)
domain A
domain B
I can create the first link from middle on domain A to Middle of domain b.
No problems !
Then I create another link from top right corner of domain b to
bottom right corner of domain a.
Guess what this link OVERLAYS the first link. No matter what I do ,the links
overlay. "A real pain in the bum."
The only way around this, is for the second link to be connected to domain b
and not connected to domain a (Stop just before domain a)
This is not very pretty!!!!!!!!!
It there a fix for this ??????

Gary,
The overlapping lines is a bug that is on my slate and will be fixed in
the next release. The fix will probably allow the user to attach the
line anywhere on the edge of the icon rather than auto-placing it in
the center of the edge.
I can look into the feasibility of the "dog-leg" lines.
