3512.0. "mcc V1.1 process looping using iconic map
" by WELSWS::63769::BURNLEY () Thu Aug 06 1992 12:16
I have been asked to look at a problem on an MCC 1.1 system. The problem is
is as follows:
Startup the iconic map
enable notification from the file pulldown menu.
wait 3 minutes before the iconic map is again useable.
System now runs slow.
On investigation of this problem it was found that enabling notification in the
iconic map caused its process to consume approximately 90% of the cpu. This also
caused the iconic map to freeze in its operation for upto 3 minutes. After this
time you can then access the iconic map but everything on the system is running
slow. A monitor system shows that the process for the iconic map is consuming
about 90% cpu. From show proc/cont/id= it shows that the mcc_main.exe process
appears to be in a loop.
The mcc system is based on a 3800 vax with 32 megs of memory.
There about 410 domains currently registered under mcc. Process quotas have all
been checked and are above the recommended values. Memory pool is not extending
at all and the pagefiles are not exhausted. I have tried deleting all alarms
just incase but the results are the same. Does anybody have any idea's on this
