SSB V1.2 VMS 5.5 WAVE1 ------------------------ Problem Notification has gone to sleep ===================================== Configuration ------------- DECmcc is configured to receive PHASEV events only. 17 OSI Routers have event links back to DNA5 event logger. 26 circuits using circuit am. 96 alarms across two domains (trigging on HDLC LINK Logical station events). Alarm rules retargeted to circuits. DECMCC was working over the weekend 1-2 Aug. There was no Event streams from 9 nodes (only 8 events streams from nodes in network_services domain) Monday 3 Aug at 19:00 . 9 DECrouter were switched to WANrouters DNA5 crashed with BYTLM to low .(increased system account Bytlm to 100,000). Note DNA5 started by system account during system startup. Machine reboot Tuesday PM and DNA5 event logger back in action. Notification is now having a sleep. Wednesday. Tried to use polling rule to change icon colour. Nothing 1) Machine has been reboot 2) We have only enabled the two polling rules (Within DECmcc iconic map) Polling Alarm rules incrementing counters True / false. Getevent is also acknowledging that the polling rules are firing. Also command files being issued to batch queue. 3) Switched off outbound event streams to mcc_evl from new WANrouters. (Only 8 event streams to dna5, now) Still DECmcc notification is having a rest. Next Stage --------- 1) Check sysgen parameters against installation again. 2) Switch on trace function if available ( logfiles , logmask etc...) 3) Delete all alarm rules. Finally if all fails .Re-install DECmcc SSB 1.2 Has anyone any ideas on whats has gone wrong ,also is there a logical I need to set, to start tracing whats going on ??? Can DECmcc cope with more than 50 alarm rules in phaseV environment???? DECmcc has been working fine for 2 weeks and now I ask it to do some more work it falls flat on its face!!! Gary Malloy

The first thing I check when events stop coming in is if the outbound stream sending the events got disconnected for some reason. Try a: MCC> show node <node> event dispatcher outbound stream <name> all status If the state is ON-CONNECTED then they are connected to the MCC EVL and you can ignore the rest of my message. If it's just ON, then the streams are enabled, but there is no connection established with the EVL at the other end. If this is the case, try a DISABLE followed by ENABLE of the outbound stream. If the status is still not ON-CONNECTED, try using the CONNECT command to force the connection; it could be that there wasn't an event ready for delivery yet. If there's still a problem then make sure the sink address is correct for your outbound stream and the EVL is running.
3507.2 | One step at a TIME (colour change first) | SEDSWS::MALLOY | Wed Aug 05 1992 19:21 | 34
One step at a time. First I need to get a simple polling rule to change the icon colour. The next stage is to get the phaseV event alarming to work.. I think !!! Somehow when Dna5 evl logger was hit with 17 incomming event streams and it did not have enough BYTES (bytlm too low) . It disable notification within the internals of DECmcc. As an end user I can see this. I do not have the tools to see what it happening when a alarm (polling) rule fires. There are no errors . Which indicate to me that Notification is switch off (inside DECmcc). Hey, I need to be able to switch ON a logfile to monitor Notification service Gary Malloy Hey I need to the able to switch ON tracing, to see what is happening to the alarm event when it is passed to the notification service.

Used FCL show mcc 0 alarm rules * , in domain network_service all rules are there." Very strange." Is the iconic FM having problems with the mir database ? With advise from my colleagues at TSC we tried to created a new Mir database . Will all good things come to a end Re-installed DEcmcc v1.2 . Hey! all the alarms are back but still no notification . A error meassge !!!! "Error attempting to create nofity request for domain BAE." DElete mcc_common:*.*;* and re-installed DECmcc V1.2. Still the same message. Some progress a error message . What it means is the next adverture GAry Malloy
