Hello,
I have problems with MCC_SYSTEM:MCC_DNS_SETUP file:
1 - I tried to call this file with parameters as follow:
@MCC_SYSTEM:MCC_DNS_SETUP 1 "namespacename"
And the following error messages appeared:
%DCL-W-UNDSYM, undefined symbol - check validity and spelling
\DNS_FILES_EXIST\
The "NSDP_NS:" namespace will be used
Warning - The NSDP_NS: namespace has not yet been properly set up
The following directories do not exist:
NSDP_NS:.DNA_BackTranslation
NSDP_NS:.DNA_NodeSynonym
NSDP_NS:.DNA_Node
NSDP_NS:.DTSS_GlobalTimeServers
NSDP_NS:.MCC
NSDP_NS:.MCC_Station_BackTranslation
NSDP_NS:.MCC_Sample_BackTranslation
NSDP_NS:.MCC_SNMP_BackTranslation
NSDP_NS:.MCC_Concentrator_BackTranslation
NSDP_NS:.MCC_Terminal_Server_BackTranslation
%DCL-W-UNDSYM, undefined symbol - check validity and spelling
\DNS_FILES_EXIST\
DNS$CONTROL program does not exist on this system.
To execute this function, make sure that following files exist:
SYS$SYSTEM:DNS$CONTROL.EXE - DNS control program
SYS$SYSTEM:DNS$CONTROL.BIN - DNS management command parse table
SYS$SHARE:DNS$LIB.EXE - DNS shareable library
If you do not have access to these files, please run this
command procedure on a system which has DNS Server running.
Please re-enter the function number (0 or 2)
2 - I ran MCC_DNS_SETUP interractively.
The .mcc.bridge.backtranslation DNS directory is not created.
Is it a normal behavior, although it does not correspond to what
is specified in the documentation?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Hlne

Problem number 1 is a bug. I have entered it as QAR 3331. I suspect that this procedure does not create the backtranslation directory for bridges because the bridge AM is no longer included in the BMS kit. That would suggest a documentation error. Which piece of documentation were you reading? -- Erik

Erik, The documentation I am mentionning is Planning and Installation for VMS for DECmcc V1.2 And I'm referring chapter 7: Using the distributed Name Service with DECmcc I understand the reason for not having the bridge backtranslation created by default by the procedure. However, the terminal server backtranslation directory is created by default although the terminal server AM is not included in the kit neither :-) Hlne

RE: .0-.2
The original intension for the changes to MCC_DNS_SETUP.COM in V1.2 was
to create all the MCC Backtranslation directories for the AMs that
Digital would provide including ELM (this was decided in Oct. 1991).
The AMs included Bridge, Concentrator, SNMP (TCP/IP), Station (Ethernet),
Terminal_Server, and Sample.
The documentation was based on the decision.
However, the command procedure was changed later.
We'll change either the command procedure or documentation for V1.3.
Thank you.
William
