I am running now DECmcc V1.2 SSB and still MCC_DNA4_EVL does not come up. I say still because I had this problem already with the previous 1.2FT versions, and I tought It was a bug being solved. I replaced all <os_node> of the MCC_STARTUP_DNA4_EVL.COM file with my DECnet nodename. I have all privileges, including the 4 required privileges TMPMBX,NETMBX,DETACH,SYSNAM. After starting the command file the process MCC_DNA4_EVL does not come up, although at the end the procedures says: ... ! start the sink -- set it to state on and create the MCC_DNA4_EVL ! process to receive the events and make them available to DECmcc. ! ENABLE node4 0 local sink monitor Node4 48.574 Local Sink Monitor AT 29-JUL-1992 20:14:41 Enable completed successfully. exit $! $EXIT The NCP Database shows nothing wrong! Which mechanism is used from DECmcc to start MCC_DNA4_EVL ? Under which VMS ACCOUNT MCC_DNA4_EVL is supposed to run ? Is there any logical I can setup to get more information ? You can run it through easynet to see this happen. Regards, Dominique PACCO.

Dominique, it may not be related but when I tried to start the evl I had to replace <os_node> with my decnet name using UPPERCASE characters. Wolfgang

Hi Dominique - I am currently the developer/maintainer of DECmcc evl... ( 1 ) In the latest version of DECmcc the system lgoical mcc_dna4_am_log was set. Is it set on your system? If it is then deassign it. I created a procedure which can be found in note 2790.7 for pre ssb kits. For V1.2.0 this logical is no longer needed. ( 2 ) If this is not your problem can you send me your mcc_startup_dna4_evl.com file. ( 3 ) Also please call and/or send mail so we can get you you up and running as quick as possible. =============================== my enet address: kitfox::ball my phone number: 226-5345 my name: darryl l. ball Thanks... - darryl

Daryll, The MCC_DNA4_AM_LOG logical was set to 1 After deassigning it, it now works fine. This logical name was remaining after my V1.2 installation, upgrading from FT V1.2.7 If I had rebooted, it sshould also have worked right. N.B. I installed the patch on the FT version, but perhaps wrongly. Because it did not work I decided to wait for the SSB kit. Thanks, Dominique PACCO. |
