3453.0. "Decwindows display corrupt" by LOOKIN::MISTRY () Wed Jul 29 1992 04:16

Hi,

I have a customer who is experiencing the following problem with BMS 1.1 and
decwindows :

Customer clicks into a domain and then brings up the rules associated with that
domain. The alarm rules appear but you don't know what the rule is because there
are black lines horizontally and vertically destroying the characters. This also
occurs when he looks at the child entities ie LINE1 etc.

Now apparently this was a known problem (refer note 454) and was supposed have
been fixed. If this is so could someone tell me where the patch is. If it hasn't
been fixed then could it be a font corruption problem.

This is rather serious because if it hasn't been fixed in 1.1 I suspect it's
still there in 1.2.

Any ideas..

3453.1what version of vms?BARREL::LEMMONWed Jul 29 1992 09:246
    What version of vms is the customer running? The bug was the
    XUI window manager, not the iconic map. It was fixed in
    a later release. I think it was in one of the 5.4 releases.

Jim,

He is running VMS 5.4-3, does this mean it hasn't been fixed or that he has to
upgrade to vms 5.5.

    This is the first time I heard of this problem on ultrix.
    Is the display set to the ultrix system or to a vms system?

    The system is a stand alone DECstation 5000/200 displayining on itself.
    When I get a chance I will try the display from this system onto
    a vms system...

    I don't recall which version but I suggest they upgrade anyway.
    5.5 has been out there for a while.

3453.9Change window back grnd color in sess = fix 4 UltrixHERON::PATEL_ALoLo-AQIC-I82Q-B4IP, - LMFWed Aug 12 1992 10:4011
    re .3 prob on corruption problem on Ultrix 4.2a system.

    Some 'fooling' around showed that the problem was only seen if you kept
    the decwindows defaults for window background color as at installation
    time.

    I changed the window background color in session manager to a buff
    color, and the highlight color to pink, then the selected objects do
    not get corrupted.
