3452.0. "alarm problem in DECmcc for ULTRIX SSB" by MXOV06::LERIOS () Wed Jul 29 1992 00:00

Hi:

I have a problem with an alarm generated using a comparison
format (using wilcards) which has the following characteristics:

1)the entity attribute was packet rate
2)the selected entities were node phase IV (in fact, in the domain I am working
  these entities are DECrouters)
3) The comparison rule fields are:
   Entity: node4 *
   Attribute name: packet rate
   Relational Operator: GT
    Comparison value: 5
4) the severity I choose was critical

after I created it, I enabled the alarm and the operation begun ok.

However a few minutes later, and like result of the show status command,
I got the next message (in the infomation field of a rule exception):

"Software logic error detected<EOS>%MCC-S-SPECIALIZED_EXCEPTION, success
 with management module-specific exception reply"

besides, I found in the rule exception:

managed object: MCC 0 alarms rule "rule_name"

any help would be appreciated

ah!

the configuration I am using is:
DECstation 5000/125
ULTRIX V4.2A
24 MB (memory)
120 MB (swap)
rz56 (hard disk)

thanks in advance and regards

    2. An alarm rule containing a global wildcard and a statistical
    attribute is not allowed.

I guess what you are doing may work if you specify the instance
