I tried installing the new ELM AM kit (SSB version) on a V1.2 mcc system with VMS A5.5 system (VAX 4000 mod 200, with 32Mb memory). The installation took much longer than the FT 1.2.7 kit. Is this normal? Also, it failed the IVP with a mcc-e-inv_in_entity, software error - invalid in_entity (input entity) parameter while testing the FDDI AM. The command issued was manage/enter test mcc 0 FDDI_AM, to file mccelm$out.txt. This problem has occurred on several similar systems, all with the same config. The FT version instals without problems. I havn't tried the FM kit yet. Anyone any ideas?? Paul.

--> Anyone any ideas?? Yes. The entity code for FDDI was changed by the Powers That Be in Their Infinite Wisdom. :-) Please see note 3236 for details. It's important that you read this note before proceeding. [The details are also in the ELM release notes.] Please do not install DECmcc ELM T1.2.7 on V1.2 of the MCC base system. Your note makes it sound like this is what you did. After reading note 3236 and deregistering/saving your FDDI entities, the fastest solution to your immediate problem would be to re-install DECmcc BMS V1.2 SSB (or Director) and then install DECmcc ELM AM V1.2 SSB. The times for these are approximately 40 minutess to install BMS, and 25 minutes to install ELM AM. |
