3389.0. "license check failed!" by EPAVAX::CARLOTTI (Rick Carlotti, DTN 440-2194, Sales Support) Mon Jul 20 1992 17:28
I have requested and gotten a PAK for my customer for DECMCC-BMS.
However, whenever I try to run VMS install, it gets to the IVP procedure
and displays the following error:
>>> The MCC_STARTUP_BMS startup procedure for DECmcc V1.2.0 is now running.
>>>
>>> %MCC-E-LMF_FAILED, license check failed
>>> %DCL-W-SKPDAT, image data (records not beginning with "$") ignored
>>>
>>>
>>> The MCC_STARTUP_BMS startup procedure for DECmcc V1.2.0 is now ending.
In fact, if I try to issue any MANAGE commands, I get the error:
%MCC-E-LMF_FAILED, license check failed
They are running VMS T5.5-1E7 (I thought it was v5.5-1 when I was
installing it :-( ). Could that be the problem? Should I re-install
VMS v5.5 and apply the correct -1 patch? The -1E7 patch was close to 20K
blocks and the resulting -1 patch is only about 2K blocks, so installing -1
probably won't overlay all of the stuff that -1E7 put out there :-(
Thanks in advance,
Rick C

3389.1 | Are you sure the license is loaded?> | TOOK::MINTZ | Erik Mintz, dtn 226-5033 | Tue Jul 21 1992 00:33 | 6 |
| Have you made sure the license is registered and loaded?
Check with
$ LICENSE LIST/FULL DECMCC-BMS

3389.2 | Yup...it's loaded! | EPAVAX::EPAPC1::EPAVAX::CARLOTTI | Rick Carlotti, DTN 440-7119 | Tue Jul 21 1992 09:24 | 4 |

| I experienced problems with license in the past even though everything
looked ok. What I ended up doing was a "License Unload DECMCC-BMS" followed
by "License Load DECMCC-BMS" one more time and it took. So my personal
procedures are:
1. Type VTX PAK. Follow the directions and obtain a pak for DECMCC-BMS.
2. On the machine you want to run MCC on, type License list DECMCC-BMS/FULL.
Write down the authorization numbers for each license which is
Active/Enabled.
3. Type License Disable DECMCC-BMS /auth=# for each one.
4. Type License Unload DECMCC-BMS.
5. Type @<filename of new PAK>.
If you still can't run MCC after that, try License Unload DECMCC-BMS
followed by License Load DECMCC-BMS.
