    I'm having problems registering SNMP entities.  Although I can loop
    them in UCX and loop DECnet on these nodes, every time I try to
    register them in MCC I get:
    
   The requested operation cannot be completed
                MCC Unhandled Service Reply = No response from entity.
    

    This includes the node on which MCC is running.

    The SNMP installation passed its verification.
    
    Any suggestions about what I can look for to troubleshoot this problem?

Loop from UCX means that ICMP is available.  DECnet loop doesn't tell
you anything except that the physical connections works, since TCP/IP is
unrelated to DECnet.

The problem here is most likely that there is no SNMP agent on your
target systems.  There is certainly no SNMP agent included on VMS
systems running UCX versions before V2.0.  With DECmcc V1.1 there is not
much you can do with SNMP entities unless they have an SNMP agent.

    I thought about this right after I left the note.  I don't have an SNMP
    entity that I know to try, so in the meantime I'll just have to assume
    that the SNMP AM is installed properly.
    
    Thanks for the quick response - I'll try to think these things through
    a little more before I enter a note next time!!
