after installing the SSB DECmcc Basic Management System, I'm trying to install the Development Toolkit. Starting installation of DECmcc Tool Kit VERSION X12M ...................... ...................... ...................... Dependency check failed, cannot install. The ULTRIX Software Development Utilities (UDTPGMR4??), and the Internationalization Development Environment (UDTINTLPGMR4??) subsets, as well as either the DECmcc Director or DECmcc Basic Management System must be installed, and no previous version of the DECmcc Developers Toolkit may be installed I'm confused with this, because apparently every thing is Ok... # setld -i | grep UDTPGMR4 UDTPGMR420 installed Software Development Utilities UDTPGMR421 installed Software Dev. Utilities UPGRADE # setld -i | grep UDTINTLPGMR4 UDTINTLPGMR420 installed Internationalization Dev. Env. # setld -i | grep DECmcc MCRBMS120 installed DECmcc Basic Management System MCRDTKT127 DECmcc Developers Toolkit Could some body tell me what is wrong ? Thanks in advance, Jean-Mary.

The toolkit will only install on the corresponding version of the BMS or director kit. You can not use this older toolkit on the SSB BMS kit.
3315.2 | A workaround... | TAEC::LAVILLAT | Tue Jul 07 1992 09:02 | 14
Re .0 : I remember having had such problems with some test TK kit, on some test machine (but did not try to understand the how and why :-) ). If you really need a fix, an ugly hack : edit the scp file (instctrl/MCRDTKX12M.scp if you use setld -l .), locate the error message, comment out the 'exit 1' statement and do setld again Regards. Pierre.

Yes, of course you can hack the .scp. But the check is there for a reason. Since on ULTRIX the kernel is linked in to each executable, installing a toolkit from a different version than the base system may result in incompatable modules. -- Erik

Which BMS version is compatible with X1_2_22 Dev. Tool Kit ? From where I can get it ? Thanks, Jean-Mary.

The X1.2.22 BMS kit was compatible with the X1.2.22 toolkit. Neither are currently supported. |
