Hello, SNMP gurus, MULTINET (LANNET HUB) questions : 1) The DECmcc MIB translator could not first translate the LANNET HUB MIB. My customer received a patch of the MIB translator to have this work, and it did work ! My customer now asks if this patch (making the MIB translator less flexible) will be part of the SNMP AM on DECmcc VMS V1.2? 2) My customer then tried to receive traps with DECmcc VMS V1.2 from the MULTINET LANNET HUB but it did not succeed even though the DECmcc and the MULTINET had the same community and the MULTINET was configured to send traps to DECmcc. Can we make it work and how ? Best Regards Catherine

Catherine, RE 1). I don't remember if there was any 'patch' made on the mib translator to allow it to handle the Lannet mib. However, I can assure you that all fixes made to the translator has made it to V1.2. RE 2). What exactly is happening when your customer tries to receive traps from the Lannet hub? Does the sink process come up and stay around? You can verify that by doing a $ SHOW SYSTEM and looking for a process named MCC_TCPIP_SINK. Remember that when you want to receive traps you should be running mcc with SYSPRV turned on. Rahul. |
