| Hi Bill,
It looks like there are two problems here:
1) > (E) Cannot find/poll spanning tree root: 08-00-7C-00-18-1A
You have a Vitalink root. In the T1.2.7 version no map can be
generated for a non-Digital bridge root. In the SSB version I have added a
work around for this that I can make available to you. But let's
see if we can figure out the second problem first because it appears
to be unrelated.
2) > (E) Error opening map file for domain: LOCAL_NS:.config
This means that the map file for this domain could not be opened. I
don't know why this happened because it looks like you have a valid domain.
It could be one of the following:
1) What is the definition of MCC_MAPS?
2) Is the area pointed to by MCC_MAPS protected?
3) Are you able to manually add entries to the domain and save a map file?
4) Another unrelated question. Are you running on VMS or ULTRIX?
Thanks,
Bob

Yup, I know a Vitalink is the root and I knew that was one problem with
getting the map.
Please send the work around.

VMS 5.4-3. VAX 3100 with 16Mb.
Also, I get the same map file open error with the FDDI automap but it updates
the map. All I get though is the default FDDI icon for all the entities with
no connections drawn. This is the FDDI automap log file-

| Hi Bill,
This one has been driving me crazy for a while (note 3080 also has this
problem) but I finally figured out the problem. The routine that opens the map file
is using the logical name translation of MCC_MAPS in the file name.
You have it defined to mcc_common (no colin). The routine is not adding the
colin to the logical and thus it is trying to open an illegal file name.
I'll fix this for SSB and give it to you to try out. But in the mean time
if you change your mcc_maps definition to:
define mcc_maps mcc_common:
it should work. Give this a try with your FDDI ring map and let me know
if it works.
Thanks,
Bob

I did -
MELISA:: DEF MCC_MAP MCC_COMMON:/SYST
and NO LUCK
I get the same error and from the decterm window I get this (which is
the same as before but I thought you'd like to see it) -
