3264.0. "Clear status by alarms, how should it work?" by COL01::LUNT () Mon Jun 29 1992 08:43
Hello,
I have the following question concerning the Alarms and
Notification Services:
1. Last week we had a bridge hang, therefore all of my alarms fired
with Exceptions. I have the following alarms set:
Bridge xxxx device state not operating at every 15:00
Bridge xxxx line 1 not forwarding at every 5:00
Bridge xxxx line 2 not forwarding at every 5:00
Bridge xxxx invalid password at every 1:00:00
Bridge xxxx spanning tree mode change at every 1:00:00
The bridge was down for about 20 hours. When the bridge came backup
I got the following "CLEAR" alarms and one "MAJOR" alarm:
Bridge xxxx device state not operating "CLEAR"
Bridge xxxx line 1 not forwarding "CLEAR"
Bridge xxxx line 2 not forwarding "CLEAR"
Bridge xxxx spanning tree mode change "MAJOR"
I had expected that all alarms would have fired "CLEAR" when the bridge
came back on line. Also I would have expected to get a mail message for
the "CLEAR" alarms.
Is what happened appropriate behavior?
thanks for any insight into how this works,
Julie Ann LUnt
