Are there any plans to have DECmcc support the use of X.500 implementations in place of DNS for a distributed object repository? Is anyone working with our X.500 product development group? -Dan

Discussions are taking place between MCC Engineering and the DCE group in exactly this regard. Bear in mind that the situation is complex given DME, DCE, DNS, CDS, XDS, X.500, BIND, etc, etc.

Dan, the only support that I know of is that we added support for DSA child entity into DNA5 Node just before SSB kitting. Most of the OSI related development for DECmcc is being handled by the TBG folks in Valbonne. I would suggest sending E-Mail to FERIC::HARPER or TAEC::STUNAULT and asking them. We are focusing more on general framework issues these days and leaving OSI specifics to TBG. wally

Wally's statement, that future OSI-related work, is being undertaken here in Valbonne, is correct. However, the base question has little to do with Management. I have forwarded it to the person who is best qualified in the company to deal with it. John |
