I will offer some info, but it may not be appropriate to your case. I
have run MCC IMPM across a 128kb DDCMP link from Philadelphia to the UK
(near London). This link is used for all sorts of traffic, mail, file
transfers, TCP/IP portals and AppleTalk tunnels. The utilization peaks
at about 80%. I have (through very brief usage) had good performance
up to when the link is running at about 40% util. Once it gets up
towards 70% (rule of thumb for saturation of a synch line is 70%),
there is very perceptible delays (upwards or 5 seconds at the heaviest
saturation point). If your link is running via translans, you may get
better throughput.
My term "good performance" means that when I clicked a button or called
up a menu, the response was, to the eye, instantaneous.
