3191.0. "RDB 4.0 and MCC reports problem" by ANOSWS::COMFORT (Spent a little time on the hill) Tue Jun 16 1992 14:53
Hi,
I seem to be having difficulty getting exported data out of RDB.
I have recently migrated DECmcc V1.1 from a VMS 5.4-3 system w/
RDB RTO V3.1B to VMS 5.5 w/ RDB RTO V4.0A. On my system at least,
the method I used to port the database (after calling the RDB team
at the CSC) was to do a
$ RMU/BACKUP/ONLINE database_file_name backup_file_name
copy the file accross the network and do a
$ RMU/RESTORE/NOCDD/DIR=new_dir backup_file_name
Now it seems that various functions do not produce output, though
it appears that (with the help of the CSC in looking at the database
itself) the data is still there. DECdecision (apparently as well
DATATRIEVE) will only find the most current record written to the
database and no others. The CSC has basically stated that the new
version of RDB (4.0A) has "broken" many applications that access
data. Great!
Anyway has anyone experienced this problem or is anyone using VMS
5.5 w/ RDB 4.0A.? Any information will be appreciated.
Regards,
Dave Comfort
