This is another question about MCC_DNA4_EVL. Once the ncp database has been define correctly, the only thing to do in order to start the DNA4 event logger or sink for DECmcc is to NCP "SET LOGGING MONITOR STATE ON" (eventually preceeded with a "STATE OFF" In out configuration this is not sufficient. In fact. It seems that EVL tries to set up MCC_DNA4_EVL by creating a DECnet logical link, using the DEFAULT EXECUTOR DECNET ACCOUNT. Clearly that account: - does not know the file MCC_DNA4_EVL.COM - if it knows, has no read access to it - if it has access, has no privileges enough to run MCC_DNA4_EVL Define an object with name MCC_DNA4_EVL username and password allows me to run MCC_DNA4_EVL without any problem any more. Nowhere is stated this NCP OBJECT definition. Is this the right way to setup DECnet phaseIV events, or is there another preferred way ? Regards, Dominique.

3166.1 | try our command procedure!!! | KITFOX::BALL | Thu Jun 11 1992 12:57 | 21
Hi - To make a long story short and life a little simpler for everyone a dcl command file comes with each kit. The name of the command file is mcc_startup_dna4_evl.com. The file can be found in sys$startup... To get the procedure going you must do the following: ( 1 ) edit the file replacing <os_node> with your node4 ( 2 ) uncomment the directives and run the command file ( 3 ) $@sys$startup:mcc_startup_dna4_evl The reason for running this procedure is the object, etc. is all setup for you. After everything is started ( i.e. the object created, the process mcc_dna4_evl running, etc. ) you can then receive and generate events. - darryl
3166.2 | Edit MCC_STARTUP_DNA4_EVL.COM is not enough ! | KETJE::PACCO | Thu Jun 11 1992 14:12 | 13
Darryl, I already did follow step by step the 3 points you explained. This however does not solve the problem by any means. If no USERNAME and PASSWORD are specified in the command procedure, under which account the procedure will run ? Clearly under the default DECnet account. That account in our case is DECnet$SERVER, which has about no privileges .... This is in short what under #0 I tried to explain. Dominique. |
