3117.0. "TSAM and Datability t/s " by SIOG::PARKS () Tue Jun 02 1992 12:09

I have a customer who uses TSM to manage their Datability terminal servers.
They want to use DECmcc for the Datability servers.

a) Does anyone know if the TSAM in V1.2 can be used for the Datability servers
?

b) There is a MIB file for Datability being shipped with V1.2. How does the
functionality of TSAM compare with the MIB+SNMP ?

The answer to question A is No. Refer to notes 1298, 2688 and 2887 for
further discussion. Send mail to Junell SELMCC::Silver, the product
manager if you feel this is an important feature.

I can't speak to question B...SNMP AM developers?

The answer to question B depends on the MIBs that Datability is shipping with the
servers. For instance, we ship a character MIB and an RS232-like MIB with DEC
SNMP terminal servers currently. That does not provide management of all the
server characteristics that TS AM does, but at the same time it does provide
some counters, etc that TS AM (and the server interface) does not. It's tough
to compare them one-for-one - the two management methods are very different.

Also, you need to know if the Datability server supports SNMP sets. Some
implementations still support shows only.

I don't know if this helps answer the question or not...
