3112.1 | No retries on ping... | DANZO::CARR | | Tue Jun 02 1992 09:40 | 5 |

You are correct, there are no retries for ping. If the ping is
timing out you can adjust the icmp timeout attribute.

3112.2 | Timeout won't help | MARVIN::COBB | Graham R. Cobb (Wide Area Comms.), REO2-G/H9, 830-3917 | Tue Jun 02 1992 11:17 | 8 |
| Increasing the timeout probably won't help. MCC really needs to do retries.
On a busy network packets may get lost (especially if they have to go from
LAN to WAN).
Increasing timeout helps with slow networks. Increasing retries helps with
busy networks.

3112.4 | Would like to see retries. | SUBWAY::REILLY | Mike Reilly - New York Bank District | Tue Jun 02 1992 12:51 | 5 |
| Thanks for the prompt reply. Add my vote for the addition of a
variable number of retries on the ping. If it is easier just have
three retries spaced one second apart.
