I want to manage Decserver 300s over a multiprotocol router backbone. I am not up on what the TSAM will give me over a routered link (if anything). So could you tell me if in order to manage these servers do I use the TSAM which seems to have a SNMP child entity (is that right ?) or do I use the TCP/IP am. Thanks for your help, Jill

TSAM is limited to the extended local area only. For wide area you will need to go to SNMP. The current DS300 does not support SNMP sets, just shows. A future release of the DS300 software will have the sets. The SNMP entity shown in the TSAM is a little misleading - it is only capable of configuring the SNMP settings on the box, controlling communities and traps. It is not a way to use SNMP. - Linda |
