3036.0. "DEMSA" by USTICA::ODOARDI () Wed May 20 1992 11:18

	Hello,

I use DECmcc v1.1 since different time but I've a BIG doubt.

DECmcc it's a tool that I can use for control all entities as node4,
terminal server, bridges, and their parameters.

I can change some parameters as cost, speed in volatile and permanent db,
if I have a proxy login or if I know username / password of a privilege
account (rightly) but not for all "node4 entity".

If I want to change parameters of entities that boot from another node (for
example demsa) and which don't have permanent db, I can't do it with DECmcc
(also I know user and pass).

Or better, I can set these parameters (using OPERATION -> SET -> xxx) but
only in volatile db (I suppose in my DNS-MIR, also) but I receive this
error, utilizing Iconic Map when I tried to set the "initial attribute":

		Table exception for Node4 xxx
Node does not support requested directive.

So, as I manage ALL my network using ONLY Decmcc??

In "Decnet Phave IV Access Module Use Manual" I can read :

 " CAUTION:

Manage your network with DECmcc, in preference to NCP, as much as possible.
DECmcc has many features that help it maintain a consistent view of network.
NCP does use these features. If you manage with NCP sporadically, you may
subsequently receive inconsisten or incorrect information from DECmcc. "

	Thanks for your reply,

That is right. MCC can replace NCP for those nodes but it cannot replace
their permanent database management (which does not use NCP).

Fixed in Phase V :-) In Phase V, MCC can't manage any node's permanent
database!
