I am trying to add a phaseIV node to the map and get the following error: nml-e-open error opening sys$common:[sysexe]netnode_local.dat; file not found. The netnode_local.dat is in sys$specific rather that sys$common. I am using version t1.2.7 of DECmcc. I can set executor from the DECmcc station to the target node and communicate without any problem. I tried to copy the netnode_local.dat file to sys$common but still got the same error. Can anyone shed any light on this. I have no problems adding nodes with netnode_local.dat located in sys$common.

Check the protection on NETNODE_LOCAL. I think the problem may actually be that you're making a DECnet connection to the Network Management Listener, so don't consider your process, but the DECnet one - you might want to add a proxy. When it fails to open SYS$SPECIFIC:[SYSEXE]NETNODE_LOCAL.DAT (e.g. because of protection problems), then it tries SYS$COMMON: - that's why you get the misleading error message. _Mek | |||||

re .0 2884.2 describes the problem introduced with 1.2-7. Let's all hope that the proxy (especially privileged) work around is not in the ssb release. |
