3019.1 | parse tables and dictionary mismatched? | DADA::DITMARS | Pete | Tue May 19 1992 18:33 | 21 |
| Is there any chance you have an old parse table file or dictionary
file in mcc_specific?
$ dir/date mcc_system:mcc_fd*.*
If there's anything in the SYS$SPECIFIC directory, it's likely out of date.
If that's not the problem, can you do the following:
mange/tool/dict
DAP> show class snmp subclass interface
and if that works, do a
DAP> show Attribute_Partition IDENTIFIERS Definition PRESENTATION_NAME
that's what FCL is trying to do when you get the

There was an old parse table in MCC_SPECIFIC.

3019.3 | SNMP AM yeilds No response from entity | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Tue Jun 02 1992 01:51 | 23 |
| I am having a similar problem. I have been "dinking" with
dictionaries, so I most likely have a corrupted dictionary.
My problem:
MCC> SHOW SNMP .snmp.node1 ALL CHARACTERISTICS
No response from entity.
MCC> SHOW SNMP .snmp.node1 ALL IDENTIFIERS
Works just fine.
In other words, I can ping just fine, but I can't do ANYTHING else.
The entity will not respond. Other network management software works
just fine.
Does it sound like a good idea to rebuild the dictionary?
Thanks,
Dan

3019.4 | No response from entity: Solution | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Tue Jun 16 1992 01:04 | 7 |
| FYI: By pure coincidence, the hosts files were not present on three
nodes I tried to access via SNMP AM. The node had no entries in its
table for my network management station.
Once rectified, everything worked.
