HI Is anyone using The Circuit Am . Can someone clarify the EVENT AENDpointchange. Are we talking about 1) A circuit change (SVa-0 state off) or 2)The attached physical ciruit BNA-0 has changed. I put my money on NUMBER TWO as this is the less useful. +++++++++++++++ So how do I git this GOOD LOOKING ICON to change colour? Of course use the EVENT nmoperationstatchange ,designed for the job. Silly old me. But when using GETEVENT Circuit LINK event nmfoperationalstateChange is alway gets a NOTIFICATION EVENT even when nothing has happen. (Know problem SEE RELEASE notes) Question --------- Timescale for a fix for this problem ? === Unable to use GETEVENT CIRCUIT LINK ANY EVENTS===== Not the end of the world yet Lets try poll the circuit link nmfoperationalstate .If not equal enabled then change circuit icon red and if equals enabled the go green 1st go failed . The attribute nmfoperationalstate was unknown. Guess what the attribute is case sensitive NMFoperationalState (Show circuit link state nmfoperationalstate = Enabled) Second time lucky Not the best way ,but it works Gary Malloy

Gary, not many users are aware of the Circuit AM since it hasn't been featured yet. It is new to V1.2. It is primarily focused at the NMF definition of circuit and/or facility. To get a clear definition of what its intended use is you need to get a copy of NMF 006 Library of Managed Objects and read the couple of pages on Circuit. Also note that with one exception all the events are the attribute change notifications as defined by NMF. Guess which one is the exception. You got it! I knew I could depend on you. It is NMFoperationalstate. It is called out in the release notes as unsupported in V1.2. As to when it will be supported. I can't give you a date. The Circuit AM officially belongs to Dick Andersen's Network Management Applications group in MKO as soon as V1.2 is finalized. Any definitive answer must come from Dick or his product managemers. I can tell you that it does not have a high priority. They are almost 100% focused on SNMP. I am responding as the current manager so that you get a clear answer rather than silence as an answer. Having been the manager of record that got Circuit AM started, I would like to give a more positive response. We were working with very constrained resources to get as much done as we did. An event for a change of Operational state is a key feature to the completion but there just were not enough resources to complete that for V1.2 As to your first question, Event change of A Endpoint means that somehow the value of the A ENDpoint attribute has been changed. This usually happens when someone is reconfiguring the circuit. wally

Thanks Wally. I can live with limitation of the Circuit AM. I am interest in how Circuit is going to handle NMfoperational event. Will we still have to have events of the phyiscal circuit ends (SVA0-0 circuit down) or will Circuit AM deal with this. Is there any one I can mail to feed some input to. As I have a real customer view point Thanks again for your reply Gary
