We found the following problem: We created some alarms under V1.1 on performance data (error percent). We choosed the pollingintervall 1/2 hour and the duration 1/2 hour, too. Now we saw that not all pools work. From tima to time realy all alarms, every 1/2 hours occures and from time to time only each second alarm occures. Is it not allowed to choose pollinintervall and duration to the same value? Or whats happen? Roland

2892.1 | Make duration smaller than poll interval | TOOK::ANWARUDDIN | Anwar | Thu Apr 30 1992 10:47 | 12 |
It is recommended that the duration be slightly smaller than the polling interval. This was true is Performance analyzer V1.1 also and is documented in the Release notes. The reason for this is that the if time of completion of one request exceeds the start time of the next request - this could be due to the system being heavily loaded or the network being busy or overhead in the PA, the next request will not be scheduled but the subsequent request will be. Making the duration slightly smaller than the polling interval (by 10-15 secs) will alleviate the problem but will not completely solve it. Hope this helps. |
