2890.0. "ETHERNET STATION AM display takes too long" by CUJO::HILL (Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident) Thu Apr 30 1992 02:18

Anyone have any idea what changes in T1.2.7 would force the ETHERNET
STATION AM to take exactly 20 seconds for each partition to display
(e.g., SHOW COUNTERS, SHOW CHARACTERISTICS, SHOW STATUS) via the IMPM?

Although the BRIDGE AM (part of ELM) is slower than it was as part of
DECmcc V1.1, it still displays in 10 seconds or less.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Hi Dan,

By any chance is your system a 2 port system? If so,
try the via port option.

2890.2Single port only, but a question on FDDI ControllerCUJO::HILLDan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer ResidentFri May 01 1992 01:1711
    Vin,

My VAXstation is only a single port system, but I'll give it a try
    just in case.

Your comment has inspired another question. Can I specify the
"VIA PORT xxx" qualifier to use the FDDI controller of a VAX 6xxx or
a DECstation 5000 in order to gather network data ???

    Thanks,
    Dan

Yes, you can specify anything. It may not work though. There's a good
chance fddi controller ports may work. Please try it and let me know!

regarding your problem with slow access. I'm doing some testing right now.
